About the Leland Blues:

The Leland Blues band was formed from the musicians who attend a weekly jam session that is held at the Old Art Building in Leland Michigan. These sessions have been going on since September 2017 and are held every Wednesday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, all year long. The format of these sessions is slightly different than most, I project song lyrics and chords onto a big screen so that everyone can play along easily, no matter their skill level. Typically anywhere from 6 to 12 people show up.

The core group that forms the band is Dan Lisuk, Bill McCrory, Greg McMorrow and myself. Several other jam regulars join us including John Erickson and Gary Lamberg. We first got together to play a fund raiser for the Old Art Building in the summer of 2025 and the recording of the album “Man Made Rock” grew out of that experience. I have been asked to describe our music and the best I can do is call it “Americana”, it could be called “Folk” music. Let me know what you think.

The jam sessions continue, come join us if you like. I have recently recreated them at the Traverse City Philharmonic as a “Guitar Club” which has 3 ten week sessions scheduled each year.
